- P. G. Wodehouse. Wodehouse, who was always a favorite of hers, is the creator of Bertie Wooster and his butler, Jeeves. I recommend going out and purchasing Much Obliged, Jeeves immediately, if you have not had the pleasure of reading a Wodehouse novel.
- Peter Hopkirk. Hopkirk is a journalist and author who wrote a number of historical analysis books such as Foreign Devils on the Silk Road, Trespassers on the Roof of the World, Setting the East Ablaze, and The Great Game: The Struggle for Empire in Central Asia.
- Irma S. Rombauer and Marion Rombauer Becker; the Joy of Cooking (anything prior to the controversial 1997 edition).
- Ngaio Marsh. Marsh was, along with Agatha Christie, Margery Allingham, and Dorothy L. Sayers, one of the four original "Queens of Crime."
- Rex Stout--the author of the Nero Wolfe mysteries.
- British explorer and writer Wilfred Thesiger, who wrote Arabian Sands, The Marsh Arabs, and The Last Nomad, among others.

Jake, this is a lovely blog to eulogize a lovely woman. Your mother clearly added value to the lives of many people and made this Earth a better place by living on it.
I do wish for you and your family a safe trip back to the States and my deepest sympathies.
